The N43 engine is known to have a chain tensioner that's prone to fracturing. When this happens, the timing chain skips, causing the engine to explode. To prevent this from happening, I installed an up-rated tensioner at around 90k miles and so only around 20k miles have been put onto the new tensioner (which is more reliable than the OEM part.
At around 80k miles, the engine developed a problem where it would occasionally take 5 or 6 cranks to start when cold. It turned out that 3 of the injectors were leaking and so I replaced all 4 of them. From then on, engine has started within 1 or 2 cranks (in other words, straight away) when cold and with no more issues.
This engine runs beautifully and I have full confidence that it'll continue to do so. It's been subjected to regular oil servicing, every 12k-15k miles with Castrol Edge 5W-30. The engine itself has no leaks, never has and is actually very clean. It consumes around 1L of oil every 5k miles which is perfectly normal.
